Save our City! - yes tax/no cuts

Dear Mayor Miller and City Councillors:

I am writing you to express my concerns over the rumoured budget cuts around the arts and social services in Toronto. We absolutely cannot let this happen to our city, as it is great due to the result of these successful programs. Our city is famous around the world for being a centre for culture, as well as a successful multi-cultural metropolis. After so many costly community consultations that have proven that participation in the arts enriches our communities, it is vital that we not destroy the programs which we have worked so hard to build. These cuts will put artists out of business, destroy neighbourhoods, community programs, and centres. Richard Florida uses Toronto as an example of a city which draws innovative talent from around the world. These cuts will push away people from our cities, the very people who moved here because of these very programs which keep our city alive and vibrate. I know that you think these services are essential as well, and that you believe in our city.

To protect my city, I support the land transfer tax as an immediate solution to Toronto's financial crisis.
