iPod File Sharing

today has been one of those spring cleaning days. and in my spring cleaning, i am picking up pieces of technology and playing with them again. i got to play with my isight a couple of days ago, and now it's time to tackle the ipod. problem is my nano is in kingston. thanks nicole.

so all i have to listen to music on in my dad's ipod. lucky that i have a backup, i plugged her in and started trying to transfer my music on it. right away i get a message from itunes saying that it is already synced with another computer. duh. thanks itunes.

moving on, i do the intuitive drag and drop. no luck! i've been researching for the last hour for hacks, and i can't find anything relevant. i found one program called podshare, but it was for windows. i have a suspicion that the drag drop doesn't work because the ipod is formatted to a windows computer. i can grab music from it, but for some reason i can't put music on it. there are 17 empty gigs on that baby for the taking. why does apple make file sharing so freaking hard? the inquirer tells me that apple is actively working to crush any programmers who dare to tackle this problem.

on a lighter note, www.wired.com offers us a witty article on the possibilities of ipod sharing. instead of waiting for bluetooth short wave file sharing to come out, ipod users are jacking each other's pods. the question is, why would you just do that with ipod users? how snobby is that! why wouldn't you just do it to anyone with earphones? does the ipod only vibe assume that ipod owners have superior taste in music?
