Everybody in Kafias!

today i was dishing out my usual fashion advice, when we came across a point where fashion and politics crossed paths. i've heard this argument before, as it has been debated in the very halls of ryerson fashion school by pissed off jews and arabs alike. one group is pissed as they're style is being majorly bitten by a bunch of scenesters. the other group is pissed because the appropriated style has long represented resistance to their closely related nation. either way, if you're going to wear a kafia, por favor, know what the politics are! are you down for hamas? pick a nice red one... if you like fatah, go for black! just joking... either way it's a little bit ridiculous. i've worn a kafia for a long time, but it is to show solidarity with palestine. sometimes i am scared to wear it on the street, as i don't want to offend my jewish friends and family, but many times i'll do it despite the risk. now that it is trendy i probably wont have to worry when i get home to toronto in april....

21:06
it started as a solidarity thing before the bandanna trend

21:11
then bandannas were cool

21:25
and then people who didn't even know where palestine is started wearing them because bandannas were cool
