cambios y cambios
Related to country: Mexico

acabo de regresar de chiapas y me siento muy bien. estoy con mi familia y todo tiene vacaciones. yesterday was christmass and we all opened presents and ate delicious food. coming back from mexico made me really greatful for all of the things we have here. right now it's boxing day and i can't even think of anything that i could possibly need to buy. we already have so much!

chiapas was a real trip. we were living at la Universidad de La Tierra, an indigenous non-formal school just outside of San Cristobal de las Casas. We were living in cabins, sleeping in bunkbeds, and basically living how the students lived (but maybe with more coffee breaks). it was freeeeeeeezing in chiapas, and there was no hot water so that was a bit hard to get used to. luckly it warmed up in the day. i was there for the VIVA! Project, a transnational community arts participatory research project. it was really amazing to meet all the passionate people from across the americas, commited to community arts practice and social justice. i had very little days to actually visit with friends, but it was amazing to see people again after 2 years.

one more week before i take off. turns out i'll be in the tee for NYE after all. anyways i just wanted to post an update. i gotta run uptown and hang out with my bubby!

It's been a long time / since I left you / without a dope beat to step to...

step to, step to, step to....

this video revives my heartbeat. i love creative imperminance. that is something that is missing with digital art. digital art is all about the archive. i feel that this piece while archived, still celebrates imperminance. maybe computers represent the occidental's fear of death? we are scared of loosing our power so we incessantly archive everything that we can, until we reach a state of meltdown.

the diagnosis? paralysis through information overload. it's every hard drive crashing at the same time. in the mean time we've forgotten how to spell, how to draw caligraphy, and how to look our loved ones in the eye (we're too used to webcams). okay so that's very poetic and dark, but that's how i'm feeling right now.

dark, like a rolling tidal wave of change. you don't know what will be left over once it passes through your life. despite the dark musings, i've got some amazing changes ahead; i just filed my intent to graduate, i'll be publishing another article along with my video, i'll be seeing my friends from mexico soon, and making new friends in costa rica.

so why all the darkness? well i just broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years. that is a big change. even though i know i shouldn't, i want to call him every second. even though i have a great place to live, and a loving supportive family, i still want to sleep at his house. problem is i'm really not happy overall. i think it's for the best that i did this, even though it breaks my heart just thinking about living without him. maybe one day when we're at a better point in our lives we'll be together again. right now it's not the time.

so cheers to changes, to the eternal ebb and flow of life.
