i've been kinda slacking off on my updates because i've been so busy here. i feel like everything i've been seeing, tasting, smelling, and learning has been so muy rico that it's almost impossible to describe. like i can describe the basics; i'm living with a campesino host family in a not-so-small pueblo with 1000 people, volunteering doing environmental education with youth. what's impossible to describe is the small magical moments of everyday that are so overwhelmingly beautiful.

like el cerro, which looks over the whole town, that we've made our goal to climb every day. from the top of el cerro you can see all of los campos for kilometres, plus the nearby city of cualtla.

or going to a three-year olds birthday party in cuernavaca, where we waited till dark, when her tios de districo federal arrived in full costume as a clown and a magician. they had preformed at her mom's 3-year old birthday party, so it was a family tradition. i was so happy that i could understand what they were saying! it was such a magical family tradition to experience.
